Easter Long Weekend Tips for Safety at home and on the road

24 Mar 2016 Cannington 0 Comment

With the Easter Long Weekend just days away, many people are getting ready for celebrations with family and friends. This also provides an opportunity for a short getaway whether it be plane, train or car.  One of the most common getaways in WA is heading down south.

While it is an exciting time for everyone it is important to prepare and be safe, here are a couple of tips on how to safe on the roads this Easter;

Plan your route, and remember sometimes taking shortcuts doesn’t always end up being the quickest. To check for traffic congestion or accidents here is a link to Main Roads Department – Traffic Information website; https://www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/UsingRoads/RoadTrafficInformation/Pages/RoadTrafficInformation.aspx

  1. Relax! Drive within the road rules and if you’ve been driving for a couple of hours – take a break, have a coffee…. It’s the long weekend, take it easy and reduce stress

Another thing to plan Before your trip is the safety of your home while you are away, here are some suggestions on security and safety for your home;

  1. Keep doors and windows locked at all times
  2. Do not leave spare keys hidden outside – leave them with a neighbour, friend or relative
  3. Keep valuables out of sight
  4. Let your neighbours know the dates that you are away
  5. If you have pets, arrange for kennel care or ask a friend or relative to mind them for you
  6. Ask neighbours, friend or relative to collect your mail
  7. Leave an interior light on
  8. Ask someone to bring your bins in (if needed)

The team at BW Backhouse & Associates would like to wish our valued clients a safe Easter!
